South Indian Coastal Fish Fry

As part of my cooking and first recording session for my company’s one of blog post, I have chosen a side dish that was closer to me from my childhood days. We used to live on the south coast of India very close to the sea and always get fresh fish from the sea. Fish consumption is a must at least once in a week for us.

I wanted to share this recipe with my colleagues as part of this recording. I prepared three dishes and due to time limits only one of the recipe was added in office blog. I also published video of all the 3 recipes in my youtube channel, so my blog viewers can also can follow the recipe in this video below.

Here is the recipe for fish fry..

Ingredients

  1. Fish Steaks – 2
  2. Chilli powder – 2 tsp ( adjust according to heat level)
  3. Turmeric – 1/4 of tsp
  4. Corriander powder – 1 tsp
  5. Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
  6. Minced Garlic – 1 tsp
  7. Salt as per taste
  8. Oil – 1 tablespoon
  9. Curry leaves – 1 sprig
  10. Lemon – 1/2 slice

Method

  1. Clean fish steaks and place them in a bowl.
  2. Add ingredients from 2 to 9 on top of fish and mix it well.
  3. Apply this spice mix all over the fish on all sides. Rest in the refrigerator for an hour.
  4. Heat a flat pan and add 2 tablespoon of oil.
  5. When the oil is hot, place the fish on the pan and cook for 4 mins on each side and do a shallow fry.
  6. When the fish has got nice roasted color, remove from pan and serve it along with a piece of cut lemon.

You can enjoy this fish as a starter or side dish! A drizzle of lemon on top would add a wonderful taste.
