Chicken Schnitzel

Schnitzel is a very familiar dish in Germany. It has its origin from Austria. Almost all restaurants in Germany and Austria have this menu. It is an easy recipe that children love it. Originally this recipe is made with Veal or Pork. Traditional it is served with German potato salad or cranberry Jam. The coating which is made, seals the juice of the chicken inside allowing to cook and stay tender and juicy while the outer layer is crispy.

Ingredients:

  1. oil – 50 ml
  2. Chicken Breast – 1, Flatten the chicken with a wooden hammer to 1 cm thickness.
  3. Egg – 1
  4. All-purpose flour – 3 Tsp
  5. Bread crumbs – 1/4 cup
  6. Salt for taste
  7. Pepper – 1/2 Tsp
  8. Lemon for garnishing
  9. Tomato Sauce

Method:

1. Place the chicken on a plate and season with salt and pepper on both sides.

2. Add the flour on a plate and coat it in the chicken.

3. Beat the egg and pour half of it on top, to coat the  chicken. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs and gently pat it with a spatula. Do it on the other side.

4. In a pan add the oil and cook for 5 minutes each side. 5. Now serve with lemon and tomato sauce.
