Almond Sweets
Posted On November 9, 2010
I am glad to write this recipe, as some of my friends have requested it. Here it goes…
Ingredients:
- Whole Almonds – 300gms
- Sugar – 250 gms
- Milk – 1 1/2 cup (or) 1 cup Water
- Rose Essence – little
- Red color – a pinch (add little red to get pink color)
- The green color very little
- Powdered Sugar – 1/4 cup
- Shortening(any) – a little( to help to make the shapes)
Method:
- Soak the almonds in hot water for 1/2 an hour. It will help to peel off the skin.
- Add the peeled almonds and milk to a blender and blend it to a smooth paste.
- Heat a nonstick pan in a medium flame and add almond paste.
- Cook it in medium heat until all the water content is evaporated and the almond paste resembles as a dough.
- Now add the Essence and before adding red color save a little for adding green color for stems and leaves.
- Add red color mix it lightly to have a blend in colors.
- Allow it cool for 10 minutes and then shape it into a ball.  When making balls add little shortening and  your palms and roll the balls in powdered sugar.
- Mix a pinch of green color and shape it into green stalk and leaves and arrange it to the top of the balls.
For this measure you can make around 45 – 50 Â gooseberry sized apples.

What a lovely dessert ya! Gorgeous! 😀
hi dear…. really happy to know the recipe, but may i know what is shortening… also shall i use icing sugar for this or only powdered sugar to be used?
@Akila , Shortening is any kind of fat – you can use Butter, Ghee, Margarine or Dalda.
Icing Sugar = Powdered Sugar ( Usually i make it at home, it is less expensive).
Thanks for the reply dear…. going to try by this week….
looks delicious, is this like marzipan?
Almond sweets are looks like as real apple and perfect finishing. Do many varieties of this kind.
The way it has been presented is awesome! Fantastic, my friend
hi in this almond sweets you didnt mention when to put the sugar..can you tell that one…
@Bhuvana,
You can add sugar when the almond is half cooked. Later when the almond is cooked completely and when you shape it you can add powdered sugar to absorb extra moisture from the dough.
