11 Apr

  1. Urad Dhal – 1 cup
  2. Rice – 1 cup
  3. Oil –  250 gms
  4. Coconut milk – 2 cups
  5. Sugar – 1/2 cup
  6. Cardamom – 3 pods ( in powder)
  7. Salt for taste

1. Add water to Urad dhal and Rice and soak it for 2 hours. Grind it to a smooth batter with little salt. ( As it is a sweet dish add only half of required salt.) Consistency of batter should be little thicker than Idli / Dosa Batter.

2.  Heat the oil in a kadai. Take a spoon full of batter and drop it slowly in the oil. Help it with another spoon to drop the batter in to oil. Try to fry as many of them possible in a single batch. Remove the excess oil from the fried balls in the kitchen paper towl.

3. In a bowl add coconut milk , cardamom powder and sugar and mix it well. Add the fried balls. Let it soak for atleast one hour.

Tip : Serve it at room temperature. The size of the ball can be of bite size as it takes less time to get fried and soaked in coconut milk.
